Nigeria Revisited – Available from Amazon

My book is published, and you can buy it at Amazon.com. Just enter the title, Nigeria Revisited, or use this link to go straight to the page where you can order.

As you can imagine, I’m very excited. I had already ordered copies from my author site for the two talks I’m giving next week. But they won’t be here until Thursday, too late for the first talk at the Westport Senior Center on Wednesday. (If you want to see the listing of my talk, you have to scroll way down in the list of events.) So I ordered five from Amazon which I’ll get on Tuesday!

Who will be the first to review the book? Will it be you?

I’ll send a signed copy to the first reviewer! Then you can give your copy to a friend.

You will have my deep gratitude if you tell others about the book. And I’d be delighted to speak and offer a reading to your book group, club, or library. Any distance considered

Chewing Sticks

Yesterday my sister-in-law Monica called to see how Clem was doing. He complained of loss of appetite, normal with c-diff.

Her advice – use chewing sticks. Our daughter checked online and found that we could buy them from Amazon! She found that they are made from licorice root (Neem tree). Somewhere she found that they contain fluoride.  So she ordered a pack for us.

Chewing sticks were the traditional method for cleaning teeth in West Africa. The missionaries and colonial teachers introduced toothbrushes and toothpaste. But many people still use chewing sticks.

Bookmarks

I ordered bookmarks to give out at my author talks and to friends. The bookmarks were to be delivered yesterday, Friday, so I’d be sure of having them for next week.

Yesterday morning I found a message on my phone from Mozelle at NextDayFlyers. She said, “We found your package on the dock. It must have fallen off when Fedex loaded the pallet.”

At first I was confused about the dock – was it coming by ship? Then I realized she meant the loading dock! She said they found two packages; one was mine. She apologized and promised delivery today. The package was waiting when I came home from the hospital this afternoon. Here’s a picture of the front and back of the bookmark.

Could This Be a Scam?

This came in my email a couple of days ago. At least it’s from the United Nation Organization (right!) instead of a Nigerian banker. It looks like it came from Portugal or a former Portuguese colony.
