The event will be hosted by Sharon Phillips ’73 at 6 Hycliff Road, Greenwich, 06831.Catherine’s book wonderfully chronicles her twenty-four years in Nigeria, beginning as she arrives for her Peace Corps assignment following graduation in 1962 and concluding with her return to the United States in 1986. In it, she reflects on her experiences during those years as she changed from an idealistic though naïve Peace Corps volunteer to an experienced educator, parent, and entrepreneur.Catherine is based in Westport and is an author, speaker, and blogger. She has spoken in Unitarian Universalist congregations, adult education settings, and classrooms from kindergarten to college level. She uses her adopted extended Nigerian family to explain issues of the developing world, especially Africa. She invites audiences and readers to experience the culture of Nigeria though her descriptions of daily life and unusual situations. Visit Catherine’s website, where she blogs every few days, for a complete biography.A book signing will follow the presentation. Please bring your copy if you already have it! Books will also be available for purchase at the event ($15). Guests are welcome to attend.
