Book signing Westport Senior Center

Signing my book for a purchaser at the Westport Senior Center talk.

News from Early Events

My first public author appearance took place on November 5, 2014, at the Westport Senior Center. I blogged about the event later. In this photo I was speaking with a couple of members of the audience.

My second talk was for the Mount Holyoke Club of Greater Bridgeport the next evening, November 6.

My third event was a talk for the survey course in African History that my friend and college classmate Anne Pardo was teaching at the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. I spoke mostly about my husband’s childhood growing up in colonial Nigeria.

I’m very glad my daughter recommended I create PowerPoint presentations for the talks. I know including photo, pictures, and maps makes the talks more engaging.

Then came the program for Lunch and Learn at the Weston Connecticut Library. I was interviewed for the cable television program Carousel, hosted by Marcelle Soviero in early December. Here’s the article from the Weston paper about my appearance.

Other past events include:

  • Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO) Organization, Tuesday, March 24, 2015
  • Westport Library – “Writing Women’s Lives” March 20th, 2015 at 12 noon, Joint Program with Marcelle Soviero (we spoke about the memoir writing process, self-publishing, and editorial work)
