I started writing while at Charles de Gaulle Airport after the flight from Lagos and waiting for the flight to the U.S. Now I’m home in Connecticut, exhausted but relieved to be done with travel for now.
Kelvin posted a great picture of our house in the village as it looks when all is quiet.
It was transformed for the anniversary celebration. First canopies went up. Then a table for the cake was set up with chairs behind it for us, the chief, the chairman, and immediate family. Chairs and tables were placed under canopies all over the yard for the guests.
We could barely see over the cake table but early in the event the cake was uncovered and then we could see our guests!
After the opening prayers, hymns, and solos, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, the chair, spoke. Clem gave the tribute to me next, and I followed with my tribute to him and to our marriage.
Dr. Ekwueme, the former Nigerian vice president, also said a few words.
Third installment coming in four days!
